Creating Calm Spaces — Designing the Aurö Home

A calm room is a conversation between light, texture, and space. Here’s how to design yours — and an interactive tool to craft your own Mood Palette.

  • Goal: Lower visual noise; raise sensory harmony.
  • Method: Edit, soften, and layer with purpose.

The Five Elements of Calm Design

Light sets the mood — favor daylight, warm lamps, and dimmers. Space breathes — clear surfaces, generous pathways, and a few anchors. Texture warms — linen, wood, clay, wool. Scent signals safety — soft notes like cedar, lavender, or clean citrus. Sound soothes — fabric, rugs, and curtains absorb, while gentle playlists set pace.

Design Your Mood Palette

Pick up to three moods you want your room to evoke. We’ll build a tailored palette with colors, textures, and scent suggestions — the Aurö Mood Palette.

Choose up to three.

Room-by-Room, the Aurö Way

  • Entry: One tray, one hook per person, soft bulb by the door. First impression = exhale.
  • Living: Fewer cushions, more breathing room. Cluster objects in odd numbers; leave negative space.
  • Bedroom: Clear surfaces; warm bedside lamp; one book in reach. Phones sleep outside if possible.
  • Kitchen: Counter edit: only daily-use tools visible. Add a living element — herbs or a fruit bowl.
  • Bath: Tactile towels, small tray for daily items, hide the rest. Add a scent that says “safe.”

Common Mistakes → Mindful Alternatives

  • Every surface styled → leave blank space to let the eye rest.
  • Harsh overhead lighting → layer table/floor lamps; install dimmers.
  • Too many small décor items → choose fewer, larger anchors with meaning.
  • Matchy-matchy sets → mix natural textures (linen + oak + clay) for warmth.
